Michael Jackson died Thursday afternoon (June 25) at the age of 50 after suffering cardiac arrest, according to the Los Angeles Times .

Reports say the legendary pop singer suffered cardiac arest at his home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills and was not breathing and had no pulse when paramedics arrived after a 911 call around 12:26 p.m. PT. They administered CPR in the ambulance but were unable to revive him. At the hospital, staff attempted to resuscitate Jackson, but he was unresponsive.

From his early career in the 1970s with his family group the Jackson 5 to his decades-long career as a solo artist, Jackson stood as one of the most successful and beloved pop artists of all time.

The Jackson 5's first single, 1969's "I Want You Back," hit #1 on the Billboard charts, and the Motown group went on to become one of the most popular acts during the '70s with hit singles like "ABC," "I'll Be There" and "The Love You Save."

In 1978, Jackson joined Diana Ross in the big-screen musical "The Wiz," an adaptation of the Broadway musical based on "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." His career as a solo artist took off with 1982's Thriller, which stands as the biggest-selling album of all time. Over the course of his career, with hit albums like Bad and Dangerous, Jackson scored five #1 Billboard 200 albums and seven #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles.

But Jackson's career faltered as he suffered several scandalous legal battles. In 1994, he settled a civil suit stemming from child-molestation accusations. In 2005, he was acquitted on 10 felony counts in a child-molestation trial brought against him, including four counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 and four counts of administering alcohol to enable child molestation.

Still, he released a greatest-hits album in 1995, which hit #1 on the Billboard chart, and embarked on a hugely successful world tour. His 2001 album, Invincible, also reached the top Billboard slot; it would prove to be his final studio album.

At the time of his death, Jackson was gearing up for a comeback, rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 arena that would jump-start a world tour, a new album and possibly a movie. In what is believed to be his final public appearance, Jackson showed up at a press conference in London wearing one of his signature quasi-military outfits and announced the initial plan for the concerts. Describing the shows as a "final curtain call," Jackson told the assembled crowd of fans and media, "This is it. This is it! I just want to say these will be my final shows, performances in London. ... When I say this is it, it really means this is it."

A source close to the singer told MTV News, "He was rehearsing eight hours a day for his London performances in August. He was in great spirits."

On June 9, TMZ caught Jackson sitting in a black SUV. Asked if could still do the moonwalk, his signature dance move, Jackson replied, "Why wouldn't I be able to?"

The singer is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

which I've been affiliated with for the past 10 years, after they took me in as a fledgling.

After the show at Budokan on January 3rd,
I faced the outstretched horizon of the Okinawan sea and sky for the first time in many years
This is once in a life-time, I decided to look hard at my future, 10 or 20 years from now

I thought and I thought, of myself, as an artist,
and about my fans who support me and the people I must face,

I'd think and think, then get tired and sleep, and wake up and think and think,

I'd take a quick shower and think and think,

I'd get hungry and eat a light meal, and then think and think,

I'd take a walk on the beach and think and think and think some more,

Then I found myself crying one morning.

So I was watching the sun rise slowly over the ocean
when without thinking, I started to cry all of a sudden.

They weren't sad tears, or happy tears.

I was just crying.

Then I came to a decision.

It's not a sad thing, or a happy thing.

I was just making a decision for my bright future.
Or at least, that's what I believe.

As for the details of the decision making process,
I'll talk about it with the media when I get the chance

One of the big reasons is; the company established and held a successful 10 year anniversary performance,
I played the part of an official representative on behalf of the bands,
and we made it into the 11th year without a problem.

Of course I'll intend to keep on singing "Peace & Smile" as usual.

President Ms. Ozaki was surprised when we talked, but after a great deal of thought, she understood,
I wish to express my greatest gratitude to President Ozaki, who kindly pushed my back,
and to the staff who were my hands and feet at times, working up sweat and tears,
I really really thank you very much.

I'll go on, knowing that no matter which path I choose, there will be thorns.

So I'll just live my life in a way so that in 10 or 20 years, I won't have any regrets when I look back.

Hope we'll be able to have sweet sweet dreams instead of chocolates
that makes cavities in our teeth.

I hope everyone has SWEET dreams.

Hideto Matsumoto , Legendary Japanese artist aka , " Hide "

Hideto Matsumoto, or hide, was a legendary guitarist and music artist in Japan .He is well known and has fans all around the globe .Although hide is no longer alive, his fans and band members still miss his cheery smile and goofy attitude .

Hideto Matsumoto's love for rock music began when he first listened to an european rock band ,KISS .He recieved his first guitar, a Gibson, and immediatly began playing. Slowly, he became introverted and expressed himself through his guitar , the other children not accepting him because thought he was overweight and often teased him.
Soon after, hide formed his own band in high school.

The first band he was ever in was named Yokosuka Saver Tiger, and was the first time he was recognized.Even though the band was banned from school, hide and his other band members played in Tokyo live houses. After several changes in the band members, Yokosuka Saver Tiger split up. hide was frustrated that his music career wasn't working out, and decided to become a beautician.

Near his graduation, hide recieved a phone call from the band leader of "X", Yoshiki. Yoshiki asked hide if he would like to be one out of two guitarists, hide simply said, "Fine." Even though hide's answer was simple, it made a huge impact on his life.

"X", later changed to "X Japan", was a huge success not only because of their music, but because they did something other Japanese bands hadn't done before. The band members of X Japan wore over-the-top outfits at concerts and sometimes a band member would dress as a girl, just to make their songs' story have more effect. X Japan's, and hide's, popularity grew rapidly. hide was recognized in X Japan because of his alternative fashion making him one of the most mysterious characters of the group.
